Witney was walking home when she felt something breathing on the back of her leg. She started to walk fast but she still felt something breathing on her. Finally she ran inside her house and went to her mom. “Mom, something was breathing on me."
"Don't be so silly, Witney. There’s no one breathing on you. Now go set the table its time to eat." Witney’s mom said giggling.
Witney was trying to set the table and get her mind off of the thing that was breathing on her but she couldn't stop thinking about it. When she was eating she kept looking out the window. “Witney, are you ok?" Her mom said.
"Yea, Yea, I'm ok. I am going to call Hannah." Witney said while getting up and walking into her room.
"Hello" Hannah said.
"Hi" Witney said. “You'll never believe what happened on my way home today"
"What! What!" Hannah said.
“Well I kept feeling something breathing on me" Witney said.
"That’s creepy" Hannah said.
“I know" Witney said.
"I got to go, sorry. It’s time for bed."
"Ok, talk to you tomorrow, bye" Witney got off the phone and put on her pajamas. "Night Mom. Night Dad." Witney said to her mom and dad. She went to her room and laid in her bed thinking about that thing breathing on her. She could still feel its breath on her.
Next thing she knew her alarm clock was going off. She got up and got dressed. Then she started walking to the bus stop. She was scared that thing would come back. But it didn't. She went all day in school not worrying about it.
After school when she was walking home from school she felt the breathing again. She turned around to try to see what was there. It was a dog." What! A dog! You've been breathing on me? You’re so cute." Witney said. The dog followed her all the way home. “Stay here. I will see if my mom will let me keep you." Witney said walking in her house. "Mom, Mom, where are you?" Witney said.
"I'm right here" she said.
“Mom, I love you." Witney said.
"What do you want?" Witney's mom said.
"Can I have a dog?"
“NO."
“Why."
“Because you'll have to feed it and water it and bath it.” her mom said.
"But there’s a dog outside and it needs a home." Witney said.
"I don't care. We can't have a dog." Her mom said.
"Fine” Witney said. “I will put up posters in the morning.”
“He can stay till we find his owner" her mom said.
Witney went outside to get the dog. She brought it inside and fed it. “Mom I named him Rover." Witney said happily.
"Why Rover?”Her mom asked.
"I donno. I like it.” said Witney.
“You only have him for tonight". Her mom said.
“I know." Witney said sadly. She made the dog a bed and she laid in her bed listening to him breathe. Next thing she knew the dog was licking her face. "Gross" Witney said while wiping off her face.
“Witney get in here! NOW!" her mom yelled. Witney ran into the living room. “Your dog tore up the house" Whitney’s mom said.
“How dare you, Rover?!" Witney said madly.
“Witney, I am going to put up posters of the dog so we can find his owner." Her mom said.
"Ok" Witney said sadly.
Witney took Rover outside to give him a bath “You stay here while I go get the shampoo" Witney said to Rover. She walked into the house and got the shampoo. “I’m back" Witney said to Rover. She sprayed him with the water hose and started to lather him up she scrubbed and scrubbed he had so much dirt on him he was like a big pile of dirt. Finally she rinsed him off. He was all clean and shiny. "There now you look better" Witney said to Rover.
Three weeks went by and no one clamed Rover. “Mom" Witney said.
"What" her mom said.
“Where’s Rovers owner? "
“I donno Witney" Her mom said madly.
"Mom" Witney said again.
"What" her mom said.
"Can we keep him?"
“I donno. Ask your dad" her mom said while going outside.
"Dad! Dad!" Witney said.
"What" her dad said. "Can we keep Rover?"
"Maybe. You'll have to buy his food with your allowance and bath him once a week and water him every day and clean up after him and take him on walks." her dad said seriously.
"I will! I will!" Witney said excitedly.
"Ok you can keep him then" Her dad said.
"Thanks Dad!" Witney said. She went to her room got in her piggy bank and took out all the money she had saved from her allowance. She went to the pet store and bought him a bed, a water and food bowl, a collar and a leash. She walked home. She put his collar on him and put his bed right by hers. Then she poured some food into his food bowl. ” There" she said happily.
From then on Witney had a dog named Rover.
